Independent contractor · Commission only · Your schedule
We build a real website for a local business before anyone ever talks to them. Your job is to walk in, pull it up on your phone, and let the owner see their own business looking the way it should.
Commission-only independent contractor role. Earnings depend entirely on what you sell — see the honest numbers below.
Why this is different
We hand you ten local businesses with finished websites already waiting for them. You are not asking anyone to imagine anything. You are showing them something that exists.
The job, start to finish
Five minutes online. If we like your application we send you an access code for training. No interview loops, no résumé gymnastics.
Two to three hours, self-paced, on your phone or laptop. Eight short modules and a quiz. Pass it and your account activates.
Reserve up to 10 local businesses in your area. Nobody else can work them. We build a real website for every single one.
Walk in. Ask for the owner. Show them their website on your phone. Leave a card. You choose when, where, and how — you're a contractor, not an employee.
They say yes, you collect the deposit on the spot and hand the account to us. We build the real thing and go live in days. You're done.
$500 for the website. Then half their monthly plan, every month, for a year. Sell once, get paid thirteen times.
The money, without the fog
Every commission-only pitch you have ever seen was vague about money. Here is ours, with the actual math showing.
Read this part. These are illustrations, not promises, and not an average of what anyone earns. They assume you sell at a steady pace all year, that every client picks the same plan, and that nobody cancels — none of which will be exactly true. This is a commission-only independent contractor role with no guaranteed income. Some Prospectors will earn nothing. What we can promise is the rate: $500 per website and the plan share shown above, paid on what actually closes.
The barrier to entry
The bar we do set
The product
A real website for a flat $1,999, plus a monthly plan that keeps it alive. No contracts, no lock-in, they own their domain, and they can cancel whenever they want.
Most of them either have no website, or one built in 2011 that looks it. They have been quoted $6,000 by an agency and ghosted by a cousin who "does websites." You are showing up with a finished site, a flat price, and no contract. That is a genuinely easy thing to say yes to — which is the only reason this job works.
Moving up
More claims, higher commission, first look at new markets. You climb it by selling — nothing else.
No spin
No. You are never paid for recruiting anyone, you never buy anything from us, there is no starter kit, no monthly fee, and no inventory to carry. You get paid one way: a business buys a website. That's it. Top-rank Prospectors can eventually earn a small override for mentoring new reps, but nobody's income depends on recruiting and nobody pays to join.
It's a 1099 independent contractor role, which means it's a real earning opportunity but not employment. You set your own hours, use your own phone and vehicle, decide which businesses to approach and how, and can turn down any claim. Nobody assigns you a shift. Nobody can fire you from a schedule you never had. The flip side: no hourly pay, no benefits, no withholding — you handle your own taxes, and we send you a 1099 in January.
You only make money when you sell. That's the honest catch. Most people who sign up for commission-only work quit in the first two months, before their first sale, and we'd rather tell you that now than let you find out. What we've done to fix it is remove every excuse: the websites are already built, the businesses are already picked for you, the pitch is trained, and your first ten claims are waiting the day you get certified. But you still have to walk in the door.
Website commissions are paid on a monthly cycle after the client's deposit clears and the site goes live. Your plan residuals start the month after the client's first payment and run for 12 months. If a client cancels or refunds within 90 days of the sale, that website commission is reversed — so overselling somebody helps nobody, least of all you. Full detail is in training and in your contractor agreement.
No — and honestly, walking in works far better anyway. Showing an owner their finished website on your phone is the entire pitch, and it doesn't survive a phone call. There are real legal rules about calling, texting, and emailing businesses, and you'll learn them in the compliance module, which is required and has to be answered perfectly. How you actually work your claims is up to you.
As many or as few as you want — there's no minimum. Realistically, working a claim well takes about 30 to 45 minutes total across a visit and a follow-up. Ten claims is a handful of afternoons. Reps who treat it like a real side income tend to block out one or two mornings a week, because business owners are easiest to catch before lunch.
Almost certainly not taken — we're just getting started. Claims are locked to a single Prospector so two of us never walk into the same bakery, and you keep a claim as long as you're actually working it. Tell us your city on the application and we'll tell you straight whether there's room.
Gold Standard Web does, with our own software. You are never responsible for building, hosting, fixing, or supporting anything — and you should never promise a client something custom without checking. You sell it, we build it, we service it, you collect. That division is the whole point.
Apply anyway. The application costs you five minutes and commits you to nothing — you can read the entire training program and the contractor agreement before you decide to sign a thing.
